TRANSLATIONS

1- A wave of protests has erupted throughout the Middle East. It was caused by a combination of the global financial crisis, rising costs of living, high unemployment – especially of educated youth. They suffered a lot from living under authoritarian and corrupt regimes.
2- Bad habits are easily formed. Once they are formed, it is difficult to get rid of them. Using tobacco is one of them, even if small quantities, affects our body and mind badly.
3- Many scientists are optimistic about finding and developing new ways of generating large amounts of energy, but at the same time they fear the consequences that will happen if the world population goes on increasing at its present rate.
4- Solar energy can be transformed into electric energy. It can be used for many purposes such as moving vehicles and lighting cities .Unfortunately, solar energy is still expensive and much research is needed to make it cheaper and more efficient.
5- Over the years, the Egyptian woman has proved that she is able to share the man his responsibilities side by side. In the past she fought beside him in the battle of independence but today in the battle of building and constructing.     
6- Some of the most important aims of education are to build up an Egyptian citizen, able to face the future and create a productive society. Education also aims at preparing a generation of brave scientists for the services of humanity.
7- The destruction of rainforests is bringing about changes in the climate, air pollution, flooding, drought and famine. If we continue to burn and cut down them as we do now, the earth will never be the same.
8- The mobile phone is one of the most helpful appliances of modern life. It is used in case of emergency, illness, accidents or fire. In spite of its benefits, the mobile phone is a mixed blessing.
9- There have been over 9 million refugees from conflicts in Africa.  Hundred thousands of people have been homeless due to civil wars. If it happens in Europe, there will be world war.
10- For the prevention of crime, people in urban areas are asked to have alarms installed to their houses. They are also asked to keep their doors locked. However in rural areas many doors are kept open.
11- Some living things can adapt themselves to an extreme environment. These flexible creatures can survive in times of drought, flood, high and low temperatures and even when there is not enough oxygen.
12- We now know that plants and trees make their own food. The leaves are like factories producing everything they need, so that plants can change the energy from the sun into chemical energy.
13- City life can be particularly appealing to young people who like the excitement of the city. However, many people when they get older often prefer the peace and fresh air of the countryside.
14- Laughter is the best medicine. Laughing helps you fight illness and can even provide a kind of pain relief. It's a kind of physical exercise, so we shouldn’t deprive ourselves from it.
15- Democracy helps people to enjoy the sense of belonging and being and loyal to their country. Egypt has taken great steps towards achieving this goal. That is, every one has the right to express his opinion freely and take part in political life.
16- An endangered animal is an animal whose numbers have become so low that there is fear it may become extinct. Once an animal has become extinct, it can never reappear, so we should protect animals from dying out.
17- Our deserts are one of our chief sources of wealth. If we give them due care, we can increase our national income and solve many of our problems by increasing the cultivated land and creating new jobs for our youth. 
18- Freedom is the most precious thing in life. This slogan was raised by the Egyptian youth in their revolution against corruption. There were martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the sake of their beloved Egypt.
19- Peace gives every country the opportunity to carry out many useful projects. When peace prevails, we can use the money wasted on wars and destructive weapons to build new factories, schools, hospitals and to solve the problem of overpopulation.
20- Young people are the real power of any country. They serve their country in peace and war. In peace time, they take an active part in the battle of production. In time of war, they fight bravely for the freedom and dignity of their mother land.
21- Wind power offers a solution to all our energy problems by being a renewable, clean and safe source of energy which is easy to live and work with. It is regarded as an alternative, reliable form of energy. It almost has no drawbacks.
22- Trees are planted for many purposes. They are planted either for shade or for wood or for both. Some people plant trees to beautify the place in which they live.
23- Terrorism is mainly caused by unemployment and frustration. Young people who have no jobs resort to terrorism. Join terrorist bands to get money. It can deteriorate and destroy economic conditions.
24- Optimism and pessimism determine our success or failure. Optimism stimulates self – confidence and good relationship and opens the way to success. Pessimism makes us uncertain of abilities or ourselves and blocks the way to success.
25- To enjoy the quality of being right and fair, you should have justice. It is one of the basic values in all social systems. It is also recommended by all religions and called for by all prophets.
26- Distance learning can make use of experts in various branches of knowledge all over the world. We can make use of it in all fields and branches of science. That will be cheaper and more comfortable.
27- The Noble prize is awarded to distinguished nominees in various fields. Fortunately, four Egyptians won this prize. President El-Sadat won it for peace, Naguib Mahfouz for literature and Zewail for science besides Dr El-Baradee for using nuclear power in peace.
28- Egypt aims at attracting Arab and foreign capital for investment. So, the Egyptian government should encourage setting up new factories for modern industries. It should also develop the existing ones.
 29- All Arab countries hope that peace will prevail all over the world. The United Nations tries to solve the problems of countries. Such problems should be solved on the principle of justice.
30- Our resources should be exploited well to increase our national income. Our country is rich in oil, coal, natural gas and gold mines. These resources can build up strong economy in the years to come.
31- Rubbish is much too valuable to be thrown away. It contains things that we need such as bottles, cans and plastics. They can be recycled to be reused.
32- The Arab World is the birthplace of the three religions: Judaism, Christianity and Islam. It is the cradle of early civilizations. It has unique location and nature.
33-To solve the food crisis, we must look at some of the long – term possibilities for producing more food. By controlling the weather, we'll be able to save our harvests from droughts or floods.
34- To avoid the dangers of pollution resulting from car fumes, scientists have recently turned their attention to natural sources of energy. Of these the sun seems the most promising source for the future.
35- The Ministry of Education is taking positive steps to develop and improve education. Schools have been equipped with the most up – to – date electronic devices. Teachers also get a lot of training courses to help them teach in a better way.
36- The government faces a lot of housing problems. The recent problem is the slums which need good planning. Planners think that if we give people the right place to live and a way to earn a living, the problem will be solved.
37- Great efforts are required to provide enough food, housing and education for every citizen. These efforts are necessary to face the ever increasing population in Egypt. The government and individuals should cooperate to solve such problems.
38- Keeping our environment clean and beautiful is a national duty. It is not the responsibility of the government alone. We must cooperate to protect it from pollution and rubbish.
39- A wise educational policy directs education towards fulfilling the needs of society. It also deals with its current and future problems. This leads to the welfare of both the individual and the society.
40- Exercise is essential for the young and the old alike. Physical fitness and reasonable weight are fixed criteria for good health. Physical fitness can delay aging.
41- Most young people today are substandard in culture and knowledge. TV and internet took them away from reading, attending lectures and symposia. The educational system doesn't develop the creative and intellectual faculties in them.
42- Some people prefer the simple and healthy life of the country. There they avoid the smoke of factories, the speed of city life and the crowed means of transport. They also enjoy the fresh air and beauty of nature.
43- Shortage of water will be a pressing world issue in the coming decades. It necessitates exerting the utmost efforts of governments as well as individuals. So we should pursue rationalizing it.
44- Global warming occurred in the distant past as the result of natural influences. Nowadays, it occurs as a result of increased emissions of gases. Scientists generally agree that is a thorny problem the world faces.
45- January revolution proved to the whole world that the Egyptian youth are not negative. They made a white revolution that astonished everyone. They indicated that they have the power and creative soul in time of need.
46- Experts and economists said that small industries could play an integral part in economic development. They had formed a basic component in the economies of many world countries. They can be great benefit for the national economy.
47- Young men nowadays do not know how to spend their leisure profitably. They often waste their time keeping company with bad people who spoil their character. They sometimes fall into bad habits which they may ruin their health and lead a miserable life.
48- Health is a splendid treasure that completes our happiness. We cannot really enjoy life if we are not healthy, however wealthy we may be. Our sound bodies enable us to do everything that brings us great joy.
49- What a person does is more important than what he says. Deeds have a greater and deeper effect than promises. A person is more known and judged by his actions than by his words.
50- World civilization owes a great deal to the Arabs. Arabs made their contributions in every field of knowledge. Western scholars were influenced by the contributions made in the fields of chemistry, mathematics, astronomy and medicine.
51- It is noticed that some young people who suffer from all kinds of vacuum resort to addiction. Some have "thought vacuum" owing to the fact that spiritual and social concepts are not stable in their minds. So we should cooperate to help them.
52- The progress of any nation is measured how far its individuals practice their freedom. Freedom develops individuals, creative powers and directs them to invention. However, it must not be misunderstood; otherwise it will mean corruption and confusion.
