\GULLIVER'S TRAVELS/Chapter three

Chapter three
1- Why did Gulliver decide not to go to that side of the island ?
He didn't want the enemies to see him.
2- Why did Gulliver think the people at Blefuscu had no idea about him?
 Because  there was no communication between the two countries.
3- Why was there no communication between the two islands?
Because the two countries were at war.
4- What was Gulliver’s plan to put an end to the war between the two island?
He could take all of Blefuscu's fleet of ships.                                                                                                       
5-Why do you think Gulliver wanted to know the depth of the water\ sea?
He intended to cross the sea.
6- How deep was the sea between the two islands?                                   Two metres.
7-How could Gulliver collect information about the Blefuscu ‘s army? By his pocket telescope.
8-What tools did Gulliver use for his mission\ pulling the ships away?
        He  used  fifty hooks fastened on strong chains.                                                                                                                                                   9- What did Gulliver do before he walked into the cold sea?         He took off his shoes and sock.                                                                                                                                   10- How did the people of Blefuscu feel on seeing Gulliver? Why?
 They were terrified. Because Gulliver was a giant.
11- How did the people of Blefusco behave when they saw Gulliver at the harbour?
Soldiers started to shoot arrows at him.
12- What was Gulliver’s main worry\ thing while being shot by people of Blefuscu?
His  main worry was for his eyes.
13- How could Gulliver protect his eyes from the arrows?                       He put on the glasses .
14-How could Gulliver untie the ships that were tied to the wall?                              
He took out a knife and cut all the ropes.
15- What did the soldiers realize and surprised them?             Gulliver didn’t want to harm any one.
16- Why was the king waiting nervously with his men on the northeast coast?
          He thought Gulliver had drowned.
17- How did the king honour Gulliver when he reached Lilliput?
He was welcomed back like a hero and the King gave him the most important medal in the land.
18-What did Gulliver object to ?                                                Making  the free people prisoners.
19- When was the the king displeased / angry with Gulliver ?
He refused to  help the king with his ambitions
20- What good thing did Gulliver do by taking the Blefuscu’s fleet of ship to Lilliput?
       He put an end to the war peacefully.
21- Why did The group of six officials from Blefuscu really  want to meet Gulliver?
       They would thank him for not hurting any of their people.
22-Why did an adviser of the king  visit Gulliver without a warning?
       To tell Gulliver that the King planned to get rid of him.
23- Why was Flmnap, the treasurer,  in favour of removing Gulliver from the island?
Gulliver cost too much money.
24- Why was the top person in the navy angry with Gulliver?
Because that Blefuscu did not have a fleet of ships and his job was no longer important.
25-Who was Skyresh Bolgolam?                                  Advisor of the king.                                                                                                                                                    26-How did Skyresh Bolgolam arouse\ raise the kings hatred against Gulliver?
He told the king that Gulliver had not kept the promises.
27- What did Gulliver’s enemies suggest to punish him?
He should be shot with poisonous arrows, or they set fire to his house with him inside.
28- What was agreed to do to punish Gulliver? Why was it a better idea\ solution?
It was agreed that he would be made blind.
29- Who was against the idea of making Gulliver blind?     The treasurer, Flimnap.                                                                                                               
30-What was finally agreed on to punish Gulliver as a recommendation from Flimnap?
He should no longer be given any food.                                                                                                               31-What would happen if they didn’t give Gulliver food?                                  Die of hunger.
32- What options did Gulliver have against these plans to punish him?
He could easily fight the King or threw a few stones at the city.
33-What prevented Gulliver from fighting the king and his men and destroying the city?
He remembered the ordinary people.                                                                                                                 
34-How did the king of Blefuscu meet Gulliver when he first arrived ?
He came out to welcome him with his family and advisers.
35-What thing did The king of Blefuscu never know/ think of when Gulliver arrived?
  Gulliver was a refugee who escaped punishment.                                                                                                  
36- Why did Gulliver sleep on hard ground the night he spent in Blefuscu?
There was no building as large as the one in Lilliput.
37-What did Gulliver find out after examining the boat?                    There was little damage.
38-How did Gulliver try the boat before sailing back to England?

He had helped to stop the fighting between the two countries and hurt no one.
40- What did the king of Lilliput promise Gulliver to do?            He promised to protect Gulliver.

42- Why did the King come down to the beach with his family?                   To see Gulliver off.
43-What souvenirs did the king give to Gulliver before he left for England?
A paint­ing of himself and some tiny cows and sheep.

He put it inside his glove to stop it from getting wet.                                                                                                                  45- What did Gulliver see on the third day?                             He saw another boat not far from him.
46- Why was Gulliver happy when he got closer to the boat?         The boat had an English flag.

To a trader called John Biddel, who was travelling back to London from Japan.
48-How many sailors were there on the boat?                      Fifty sailors and they were kind.
49- What did  John think of Gulliver when he told him about his adventure?       He was mad.
50-When did John believe Gulliver ‘s adventures in Lilliput?
When he showed him the tiny cows , sheep and the painting.
51-How did Gulliver reward the captain for rescuing him\ saving his life?
He could keep the sheep to give to his children.
52- When did Gulliver arrive in England?                       On April 1702.
53- How did Gulliver feel when he arrived in England?
He was very happy to see his wife and family again.                                                                                            54- How was Gulliver able to get a lot of money for a larger house?

Gulliver sold his small animals for a lot of money.
